it could've been everything leading up to the point david finds them, but instead they never find david, they take refuge in his little shop of horrors, unbeknownst to the audience and the characters in the movie david murders their android and assumes his identity sabotaging/killing them/experimenting on them. despite that this movie could've been really good. seems like a really bad reason to make these movies and yet, there is something interesting they had in this movie and it was completely unexplored and ignored.
